So, this happened today and I am so grateful for the honour & the recognition it brings.
My parents came to Australian from Ireland in 1956 and always impressed on me the importance of giving back to the community.
While I am enjoying so many wonderful messages and still feeling disbelief that I could be on such a list I know the honour comes because of the many (too many to list) who with my family have supported me or given me opportunities to be involved.
The team at SchoolAid in particular have been many & generous over 20 years, expanding the mission past anything I could have imagined or delivered on my own. The teams in the State Emergency Service at Gundagai & Bega taught me more perspective than I could have imagined with life and death rescue work on the highways, storms & searches. My 10 years with Rob Edwards and the environmental / educational work we do at the It’s Time Foundation & Plastic Free Oceans is just good for the soul & great for the world.
So, today I share my thanks & deep appreciation with each and every one who has given me encouragement & support as I did my bit in my corner of the world. Thanks all!
